Zimbabwe Sables Finalize team for Namibia Tour:

zimlogoYesterday evening, Zimbabwe Rugby finalized their touring party of 24 players, who will travel to Namibia for a tri-nations tournament with the host nation and Kenya. In preparation for the tournament, a 29 man squad has been participating in a training camp in Bulawayo, that started on Friday 1st November.

The Sables’ technical department have highlighted that they will look to use the upcoming tour to test new players ahead of next year’s Africa Cup. In June 2014, the Sables will have an opportunity to qualify for Zimbabwe Rugby’s 3rd Rugby World Cup, when they play in the Africa Cup Group 1A in Madagascar. In the Africa Cup, the Zimbabwe Team will have to finish as the best placed team in a round robin format, when Zimbabwe play Namibia, Kenya and Madagascar.

The tri-nations tournament in Namibia will serve as a good marker of where the Zimbabwe team are in their preparations. The Sables will play Namibia on the 8th November (Friday) at 19.30, and then Kenya on 12th November (Next Tuesday).
