Pakistan Rugby Union Azadi cup festival Concludes with Lahore rams beating Islamabad Jinn’s 15-14 the Servis Tyres Azadi XVs cupAzadi cup rugby week concluded with an exciting much awaited final in Lahore the Final match of the 2 week long Rugby festival the final played by Arch rivals and top super clubs Islamabad Jinn’s and Lahore Rams .The Match more than lived up to the hype that was created leading up the clash . Islamabad were favorites as they had recently won the All Pakistan Super league.
The game was exciting and tense with Lahore taking the full use of the Opportunities they had and by half time were leading 10-7 with the help of a converted try and penalty Kick for goal.
Lahore scored again in the second half by a well worked try on the Wing by Khalid. Islamabad comeback In the second half with a converted Try but Lahore held on the Small lead to win he final 15-14 the man of the tournament was Doud gill at scrum half .
The weeklong festival included small tournament all over Punjab to celebrate the Independence of Pakistan . The week also included rugby introduction to Kids .which included kids of all ages girls and boys were giving Rugby coaching As part of the IRB Get Into Rugby Program .
Two championship which took place over in the festival were the Rose Petal Azadi cup shield 7s a 12 team 7 a side compaction which was won by Lahore RFC in a exciting final which was played in Totally wet conditions they beat Multan wolfs and the Burger paint Azadi cup bowl championship where the DHA Dragons.
In Fort Abbas In The South Punjab Azadi Cup was played with 4 teams participating the final The Desert camels RFC won by 27-15 All Raza was given the man of the Tournament
In Sargodha Mr Mubeen Sectary of Sargodha Rugby association had a Exhibition rugby match as part of the Azadi Rugby festival celebrations.
